Working Students 2010
1 YEAR - CAREER TRAINING COURSE
Earn while you Learn!
Do you love horses and would like to have a career either as a Groom or a Riding Instructor? Pippin Equestrian is able to offer you a rewarding ‘hands on’ course.
We are a British Horse Society (BHS) approved training and examination centre that runs a thriving riding school and livery yard. We have excellent facilities: Indoor school (40m x 20m) with viewing gallery, floodlit all-weather arena 60m x 20m, 4 furlong all-weather canter track, cross-country course, show-jumping paddock, lecture room and exclusive access to 200 acres of Dorset farmland for hacking.
The Modern Apprenticeship course studying towards NVQ level 2 or 3 is for one year, generally commencing in September. (Occasionally have vacancies at other times of the year, so it is worth enquiring). We also offer Advanced Modern Apprenticeship (NVQ level 3). Some people who wish to become instructors prefer not to do the Apprenticeship scheme and for them we run a 1 year course towards the BHS Stages and Preliminary Teaching Test.
On a work based learning scheme such as this, you will be part of the yard team and your duties will include all aspects of stable management i.e., mucking out, cleaning tack, assisting with riding lessons, field maintenance etc. In fact you will take part in everything needed to run a busy centre such as ours. We also offer:
-
5 day week. 7.30 to 5.30 – sometimes you may be required to work a late night for which you would get time off in lieu.
-
Opportunity to study towards BHS examinations, (particularly for those who wish to teach).
-
Guaranteed Regular lessons in riding and stable management.
-
Opportunity to compete
-
Weekly wage
-
Self Catering Accommodation
